Television producer Joan Ganz Cooney and Carnegie Foundation vice president Lloyd Morrisett joined forces to develop a children’s television show that would “master the addictive qualities of television and do something good with them. They recruited the top minds of the entertainment industry to create Sesame Street. By 2018, it was estimated that the show had helped 86 million Americans as children to count, spell, and learn about their neighbors.
How has Sesame Street proven so powerful, able to positively impact the world through television? Producer Cooney stated that “without research, there would be no Sesame Street.”
